WHAT REALLY ARE THE GOLDEN GLOBES?

The Golden Globe Awards are a set of annual awards given to recognize excellence in film and television. The awards are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and are typically held every January. Some of the categories for which winners receive Golden Globe Awards include Best Motion Picture, Best Television Series, Best Actor/Actress in a Motion Picture or Television Series, and more

OSCARS 2023

Some prize hopefuls received their own boosts during a night that marked a high-stakes return for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The Fabelmans, a film that has long been considered an awards front-runner but has struggled at the box office, won best picture drama and best director for Steven Spielberg, giving it a significant boost only days well before Oscar nomination polling opens. The Banshees of Inisherin, that further won awards for highest quality comedy and script in addition to a performance statue for Colin Farrell, and Everything Everywhere All at Once, that further brought home awards for stars Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan, were always the two movies that garnered the majority of the recognition on the film front.

Mostly on TV aspect of things, the powerful team of Jennifer Coolidge and Mike White took home the top honors toward the conclusion of the evening. Coolidge claimed her award for best supporting actress immediately before White got his award for best mini-series. Abbott Elementary also enjoyed a successful run, winning accolades for finest comedy show, best actress for Quinta Brunson and Tyler James Williams, plus top comedy cast overall.

WHAT MAKES THE GOLDEN GLOBES SO FAMOUS?

The Golden Globe Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in show business and have been around since 1944. They are famous for recognizing excellence in both film and television, honoring a wide range of genres from drama to comedy. The awards ceremony is also known for its glitzy atmosphere, where celebrities come together to celebrate their achievements each year.

GOLDEN GLOBES VS. THE OSCARS: WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

The Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards (Oscars) are both annual awards ceremonies that recognize excellence in film. However, there are key differences between them.

The main difference is that the Golden Globes award both television and movie achievements, while the Oscars only honor films. This means that many of the categories at each ceremony differ as well. For example, at the Golden Globes you can find awards for Best Television Series – Drama or Musical/Comedy, while such categories aren’t present at the Oscars since it only honors movies. The two ceremonies also have different voting bodies: The Hollywood Foreign Press Association votes on Golden Globe winners, while members of AMPAS vote for Oscar winners. Additionally, some of the awards at both ceremonies differ. For example, the Golden Globes have a category for Best Original Song whereas the Oscars do not.
